The Results of the Home Interview

The "Home Interview" was successful.  We do have some homework to do and technically have 30 days to finish it.  First, we have to finish our family profile book which includes the letter to the birth mother, have to get Biscuit up-to-date on all her shots, have to get the septic system re-inspected and have to read a book called Dear Birthmother.  We are going to try to have this finished within the next 2 weeks.

So far, Saturday I ordered the book from Bethany.com.  Today, Arthur has taken Biscuit to the vet.  She weighs a whopping 12 - 1/2 lbs and received 2 shots.  Biscuit gave Arthur a good talking to on the way back home.  (So sorry honey!!)  Now he is on his way to the Health Department so that we can get the septic system re-inspected.

I have been working on the picture portion of the family profile book but we have not started on the "dear birth mother" letter.  We have started working on our letter week and WILL have everything finished within the next 2 weeks.

Until further news is available......

"In Home" Interview!!!

Well, yesterday C.C. called to set up our "in home" interview.  We have set it up for Friday, April 16th at 3:00 in the afternoon.  I agree with the SAIL group - it's time to call Merri-Maids or some cleaning service.  Not really, I'm cleaning this weekend.  Already have windows and window sills cleaned.

We need to make sure the fence is finished.  I also need to make a run to pick up a fire extinguisher.  They are mainly looking to see that we have a room especially for the child and we live in a safe house - no broken stairs, rotten flooring, etc.  Guess now is the time to go thru and baby proof the house.

Anybody wanna come help me clean!!??!!  Just kidding, I've got this handled!

Adoption Preferences

It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted anything but I have lots to tell tonight.

First, our separate interview must have gone well because we were given the official outline of what to our Family Profile book should consist of.  Also, the guidelines to writing the "letter to the birthparents."  All I can say is "WOW!"  I've been working on the the profile book and waiting on pictures that we had taken on Tuesday, March 30th.  The letter to the birthparents is going to be a challenge.  There are so many things that I would love to say to the birthparents but how do you sum of your feelings in a page and a half.  I know that we will get it like it should be; it's just a little overwhelming.

Tonight when I can home Arthur told me we had a email from Bethany.  It was a "Adoption Preference" questionnaire.  The paragraph stated that we could take our time filling out the applicaton but we filled out and sent it back within a few minutes.  Questions were what age would you like your child to be; would you consider twins; would we condsider a child who has a medical condition that could be fixed with surgery (hernia, cleft pallette) and others of that nature.  Then there was a section on what about the birthparents.  The finaly section was on how would we feel about an open adoption and questions of that matter.

Now we are going thru the process of cleaning the house to make sure that when they call for the "house interview" we will be ready. Not saying our house is dirty but we could use some straighten up.  Just little things we need to work on.

Here are some pictures that Michelle took at Lake Serene that we are putting in the album.

Here are some pictures that we had a photographer take.
